iBreviary

iBreviary is one of our favorite apps (and a simple website) for having daily Mass readings and prayers, the Liturgy of the Hours, and other Catholic devotions at our fingertips.

What We Like:

iBreviary is really easy to use. While missals and traditional breviaries can take a while to master (think lots of page turning and ribbons), it is easy to find the day’s readings within a few clicks.

The abundance of Catholic prayers are helpful in every situation. There are many traditional Catholic prayers and devotions, but categorized by specific moments for prayer, including very practical suggestions like “Prayers before Work or Meetings.”

iBreviary includes an abundance of Scripture. Obviously, the Mass readings contain Scripture, but one of our favorite resources is found under liturgical rites: “Commendation of the Dying.” We have shared this resource with friends and family members, in private and large group settings, as we have grieved. There are Scriptures in long and short form, that priests use to accompany the dying through their final hour, at the moment of death, and after. What a gift the Church gives us in putting words to the paradox of our hopeful mourning!

Who It Serves:

iBreviary is a great tool to follow along at Mass, pray from home, or be ready in any situation with the words of the Church and Scripture. We would recommend this free app for anyone with a smartphone or computer!
