Word on Fire
At He Is Goodness, we are passionate about equipping families and parishioners with free, beautiful, theologically rich resources to grow in faith and encounter Christ more deeply. That is why today, we want to highlight one of our favorite ministries—Word on Fire, founded by Bishop Robert Barron.
This Catholic apostolate has become one of the most trusted and dynamic sources of evangelization and formation in the modern Church. And while they do offer paid resources (more on that below), our focus today is on the treasure trove of free content they make available to all—which aligns perfectly with our mission of keeping Christ-centered resources accessible to everyone.
What is Word on Fire?
Word on Fire is a ministry dedicated to proclaiming the fullness of the Catholic faith using the tools of beauty, truth, and goodness. Founded by Bishop Robert Barron, the ministry uses modern media to bring the Gospel to the culture in thoughtful, powerful ways.
They are known for:
High-quality videos, podcasts, and articles
An engaging and beautiful Bible collection
Deep, accessible theological formation
Resources for all: parishes, seekers, and seasoned Catholics alike
We often link to Bishop Barron’s reflections in our “Further Reading and Resources” section of our Bible studies—and for good reason. His ability to unpack Scripture, culture, and theology in a way that is both profound and approachable makes him a guide worth following.
Let’s Talk About Cost: Free vs. Paid
While Word on Fire does sell materials, many of their most impactful tools are available completely free.
Paid Offerings
If you are looking to deepen your home library or ministry toolbox, they offer:
Books on theology, spirituality, and culture for adults & kids
The stunning Word on Fire Bible, broken up into multiple volumes (like The Gospels, Acts, The Pentateuch). Each volume is crafted not just for reading, but for prayer and meditation—with commentary, art, and Church Fathers woven throughout.
Courses and formation programs for OCIA, parish groups, and catechists
That said, you do not need to spend anything to benefit from Word on Fire’s incredible mission.
