1:1 or group counsel
Sometimes past hurts or current emotional/spiritual/physical wounds keep us from God. There are a variety of causes for this, but left unreconciled they can weigh our souls down to a place we can’t recover from without help or support. That is not your fault. It is not a sign of weakness. We know as Christians there is brokenness in our world that can impact us all at at different times and in different ways.
The silver lining to this is there are people and resources available to you in your community. Christ’s biggest triumph was in his most humble moment on the Cross. Humility under the lens of Christianity is a sign of strength, not weakness. If professional counseling, group therapy (like AA or Al-Anon) or behavioral health resources (for PTSD for instance) is what you need to move beyond your pain and suffering, we hope and pray you find your way to those resources.
spiritual director
A friend, a mentor, a sponsor, a spiritual director. The name is irrelevant. The support can be endless. Conceptually, this is a person who has a deeper understanding of Christianity than you do and is willing to answer your questions or address your misunderstandings about the faith.
Maybe they are someone you know who goes actively to church and has a sense of peace about them. Maybe it’s someone you follow on social media with a who lives their faith “out loud” for the world to see (and who answers your DMs). Maybe it’s someone who leads a Bible study or teaches at a catholic school. It can be religious sister (a nun) or a priest but it could also be your neighbor down the street. If you don’t know someone immediately in your social circle, keep an open heart and our recommendation is: ask God for one.
Easy supplication prayer
priest
As it is recorded in history, when Jesus Christ gave Simon a new name, Peter, (meaning “rock”) this was the beginning of apostolic succession. Jesus knew he wouldn’t be here on Earth forever in human form and that his Earthly mission and spiritual guidance would need to be carried out by humans throughout the coming ages. This ordination which began with Peter (the first Pope) multiplied well beyond the original twelve disciples and a direct line still exists today. You have access to these faith filled individuals in your community at any local parish. They are happy to meet with you for your questions and concerns.
